„Collecting our Memory“ is a project to collect and get insight in different approaches of remembrance according to the topic of the Holocaust and Second World War worldwide. It is part of the digital lab of remembrance in Dachau this year, as it already was last year.
We would like to collect as many shared memories as possible to get a broader picture of remembrance about the Holocaust. Therefore, please try to answer all the three questions. If it is possible, please add up meaningful pictures of people connected to your family history of the culture of remembrance in your country.
This announcement is sent to schools, institutions, and twin towns of Dachau, amongst others with the request to answer the questions. It will also be shared via social media.
The answered questions should be sent back to us, possibly with meaningful pictures and toghether with this sheet. We will then put together the collected answers as an online blog.
Please write your memories and answers in English, add pictures, and try not to write more than 350 words.
- What memories of the war, of the Holocaust, are there in your family? Was it talked about? If yes, how? (Have you met survivors of the Holocaust yourself?)
- How do you remember the Second World War/Holocaust in your country? Are there e.g., memorial days? Memorials? Is it an issue in your society?
- What is the significance of the topic of remembrance work for you?
Please send your memories (pdf) to: Catharina Koke, firstname.lastname@example.org until 19th of July 2021.
Thank you for your contribution!
