We also had some #live #events and got input on different topics. As our general topic of this year’s #digital lab of #remembrance #I_remember we also dealt with current #culture of remembrance in digital space that can be seen as problematic.
Have you seen this #livetalk ? It’s still #online on #youtube – however only in German.
Go check it out! Link in bio! 📲✌️

Our traditional youth hostel for the #iymdachau was almost empty this year. Usually in early August, there are about 100 interested young people from all over the world for our #youthmeeting here in #dachau
Sadly this wasn’t possible this year due to #covid_19 so we had to come up with a Plan B. But a youth meeting without actually meeting each other? How is this even possible?! #I_remember tried to give you and us as a team the opportunity to come together digitally and work on the topic #digitalremembrance
Wanna see the results?
Stay tuned! 🤩
After one week of digital workshops, producing videos and podcasts and doing livestreams, the team is exhausted but proud of this great work! Thanks for all of you who joined us! Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks if you are interested in the results.
Today, 4 years ago Max Mannheimer, survivor of the holocaust died at the age of 96.1943 he was deported to Auschwitz, then sent to subcamps of Dachau at Munich-Allach and Mühldorf. After the liberation he devoted his life to fight antisemitism and extremism. He visited the IYM Dachau and a lot of schools. We are very thankful for what he has done and want to remember him today.
Remember him with us, listen to our talk with Dr. Carolin Otto about her movie "Der weiße Rabe". More information will follow!!

In February 2020, the so-called "asocial" and "professional criminals" finally got officially recognized by the German Parliament as victims of the National Socialism. Go through the history of recommendation of the different prisoner groups, especially of the marginalized ones and hear Frank Nonnenmacher, expert on political education, second generation eyewitness and activist, who fought for the acceptance of the so-called "asocial" and "professional criminals" as victims of the NS regime.
Yesterday started the very first online international summer camp at the Nazi Forced Labour Documentation Centre in Berlin-#Schöneweide. Thirteen participants joined the camp to learn and discuss the history of forced labor from all over the world: South Korea, China, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Germany, Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, and Mexico. One of the main goals of the camp is the confrontation with forced labour during National Socialism in Europe and contemporary forced labour prevalent in different parts of the world. We expect a lot of interesting and funny online activities in the next two weeks! Follow us at #iymc_berlin!
Our Wednesday was marked with the Workshop – "Photography Basics" given by oliver.petrus . In addition to useful tips and hints on how to take proper pictures (taking into account the possibilities of your camera or smartphone), we got valuable feedback on our project ideas and how we can transmit our stories through one picture. We all come from different backgrounds and cultures and so, our ideas are equally diverse and distinct. But still, they have special significance to each of us as they share our own stories. Lesson learned: to make a truly unique photo – the composition, the light, exposure, shutter speed – are equally essential to tell the story truthfully as without words a photo tells the story behind what is represented in the capture.
