This workshop aims to develop participants understanding of photos from the Holocaust through the frame of critical historical thinking. Many (if not all) participants first and most lasting impressions of the Holocaust come from photos, and by the end of this workshop it is our aim to broaden their understanding of the significance of these photos through discussions about authorship, content, time, place and intent. We, as a group of teamers and participants, will aim to answer such questions as „What value do photos have for history?“; „Who took this [SIC] photo, and why?“; „What does it mean if a photo is candidly taken, or posed?“; „Are photos a perfect representation of history?“ among others. By answering these questions we aim to enrich and add nuance to the participants‘ understanding of the Holocaust and its visual history.
